Why I Created Oregon Senior Guide

After more than 22 years in Oregon real estate, many of the clients I helped purchase their first homes or move into larger homes for growing families are now considering what comes next.

I hold the SRES® designation, and this stage of life is personal for me, too. We are empty nesters and are considering a home that is easier to maintain, with no stairs. We’re asking many of the same questions about timing, belongings, and how we want to live.

I’ve also helped families navigate decisions about a loved one’s home after an unexpected loss. I’ve seen how difficult it can be to manage practical responsibilities while grieving. Those experiences reinforced my desire to help people prepare when possible and find support when circumstances change unexpectedly.

My philosophy is simple: we get one life, and the next chapter should leave room to enjoy the life we’ve worked hard to build.

Simplifying does not have to happen all at once. We can approach decisions in bite-size pieces, at our own pace. If something no longer brings us joy and we don’t use it, passing it along may give someone else the opportunity to enjoy it—and bring us happiness in the process.

The same thoughtful approach applies to our homes and responsibilities. Simplifying might mean making the current home easier to manage, letting go of unused belongings, or considering a move. The right choice is different for everyone.

I created Oregon Senior Guide to bring together practical resources and educational conversations that support those choices. My goal is not to convince you to move. It is to help you make room for what matters most to you.
